Enchanting Atmosphere on the Northern Shores of Lake Como.
Bellano is a town located on the eastern shore of Lake Como, just north of the tip of Bellagio, renowned for its scenic lakefront and narrow downtown streets full of stores, boutiques, bars, and restaurants.
A Natural Wonder that Divides and Fascinates
The town is bisected by the Pioverna stream, which near its mouth forms the Orrido di Bellano, a natural gorge created by the river whose waters, over the centuries, have shaped gigantic potholes and striking caverns. The gloomy ravines and the gloomy rumble of the tumultuous waters have made the Orrido the most famous tourist resort on the Lario.
The Charm of a Natural Pathway
If you enjoy sports but dislike water, the upper lake will surprise you with the numerous paths that begin across the area and may be traveled on foot or, in some cases, by mountain bike. There are pathways of varying difficulty that allow even inexperienced hikers to enjoy the outdoors while taking in the spectacular views of the lake and mountains. If you simply want to relax, you can do it by wandering along the lakeside; on the upper lake, every village has one, complete with seats, bars, and strategic locations for great shots.
Il Sentiero del Viandante
The famous “Sentiero del Viandante” (Wayfarer’s Path), an ancient mule route going back to the Roman period that runs along Lake Como’s eastern shoreline from Lecco to Colico, goes through the Orrido and the village’s historic center.
Centennial Tradition, Legends, and Magic.
Bellano is a first-rate cultural center. Every year, the municipality hosts events that draw hundreds of people. One of the most important is the Pesa Vegia, an event with almost 400 years of history that presents itself to guests every year on January 5, renewing itself but preserving legends and magic untouched.
