Gin Angri’s photographs on display at the Palazzo delle Paure.

On Tuesday, September 30, at 6 p.m., the Palazzo delle Paure will host the opening of the photography exhibition “Donne Cancellate” (Erased Women), featuring photographs by Gin Angri taken from the archives of the former San Martino psychiatric hospital in Como.

The exhibition is part of the “Culture for Social Issues” program promoted by the Municipality of Lecco, in collaboration with the Mental Health and Addiction Department of Asst Lecco, the Lecco Mental Health Forum, and the association I fiori di oltre il giardino, curator of the exhibition.

The exhibition is the result of careful research and analysis conducted on over 42,000 medical records from the former “mental hospital” in Como, which presents the faces and stories of numerous women who were admitted to this place where they spent their entire lives or part of them between 1882 and 1948.

The exhibition, which is free to enter, will be open from October 1 to October 14, on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, please write to palazzopaure@comune.lecco.it or call 0341 286729.
