Polenta and Pizzocchero Festival
July 3 through August 9 at the Polenteria in Brunate
In Brunate, while Como heats up under the summer sun, the air remains cool and light. A short ride on the funicular takes you up to another world in just a few minutes: a world of mountain flavors, shared meals, and polenta cooked in a copper pot.
This is where, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from July 3 to August 9, La Polenteria hosts its Polenta and Pizzocchero Festival: six weekends dedicated to the great classics of Alpine cuisine, served for lunch and dinner, prepared just as they used to be.
The highlight of the festival is the Giro Polenta: an all-you-can-eat spread featuring three different flavors—three combinations that capture the essence of the mountains—for €29, including a glass of wine and water. The courses keep coming as long as you’re still hungry: just sit back, relax, and let the polenta come to you.
Alongside these are all the classics: traditional pizzoccheri, the XXL version to share as a couple, with family, or among friends, polenta and missoltini from Lake Como, and the Polenteria’s à la carte menu featuring fresh, seasonal dishes. And then there’s the live cooking demonstration, with polenta prepared in a copper pot right in front of the guests.
Sundays are family days: children have a menu designed just for them and a reserved area with entertainment and workshops led by staff, while the adults enjoy their meal in peace. Before heading downstairs, stop by the Sagra’s local corner to pick up some local products to take home.
Under the evening lights, with music playing in the background and the fresh air at 800 meters, the Polenta and Pizzocchero Festival invites you to come up, take a seat, and let yourself be swept up in the warm, friendly atmosphere of the Alps.
