The Orticolario shop returns with a special greenhouse in the garden of Villa Bernasconi, in Cernobbio: Camellia grijsii and Camellia sasanqua “Yuletide” take centre stage alongside several other selected varieties.

There is snow in the air, a delicate scent of spiced sweets. The cold tingles your nose and the days are getting shorter: winter is advancing and bringing with it the festive atmosphere. On the occasion of the municipal exhibition ‘Il Natale che unisce. Cernobbio e le sue frazioni in festa’ (Christmas that unites. Cernobbio and its hamlets celebrate), Orticolario steps outside the confines of Villa Erba and presents ‘Natale in serra’ (Christmas in the greenhouse), a new stage in the Fuori*Orticolario 2025 project, in collaboration with the Municipality of Cernobbio.

To celebrate the most magical time of the year, the greenhouse set up by Orticolario in the garden of Villa Bernasconi, with the support of Bianchi Group and Mantero Seta, welcomes two exceptional protagonists: Camellia grijsii and Camellia sasanqua “Yuletide”, on sale alongside the most popular products from the Orticolario shop – from scented candles to personalised notebooks and the iconic bag.

The proceeds from sales go to the Fondo Amici di Orticolario, which supports the projects of five associations in the Lario area and numerous cultural initiatives.

THE PROGRAMME

The Orticolario greenhouse officially opens its doors to the public with Camellia grijsii and Camellia “Yuletide” from 5 December, from 4pm to 7pm.
On the weekend of 6 and 7 December, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the space will be enriched by the presence of Marigami, which will bring its refined origami made from hand-decorated paper to the greenhouse. Those who wish to do so will have the opportunity to create their own origami.
Special opening on 8 December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On 13 and 14 December, again from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., alongside the camellias, the Orticolario greenhouse will host the Plinio il Vecchio bookshop, with a refined selection of volumes.
On Sunday 14 December, from 11:00 to 12:00, there will be a special event dedicated to children with a reading and presentation of the book “Notte di Natale in libreria” (Christmas Eve in the bookshop) by illustrator Benedetta Sala, followed by a book signing.

On 20 and 21 December, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the greenhouse will welcome Studio Pepa, with its ceramics and tableware offerings.

On 22 and 23 December, at the same time, it will be the turn of Piazzetta Lake Como, which will bring fresh pasta, jarred sauces and other delicacies perfect for the Christmas table.
On Christmas Eve, 24 December, the greenhouse will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for last-minute visits and purchases, again together with Piazzetta Lake Como.

The last event of the month is scheduled for 28 December, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., when the greenhouse will host Rocca de le Strie, with its medicinal, aromatic and wild herbs, thus closing the cycle of events dedicated to Christmas.
