Monte Generoso returns to be the star of a magical winter
Monte Generoso is preparing to celebrate the Christmas season with a rich programme
of events designed to offer unforgettable moments to visitors of all ages.
Reopening Celebration: 6th, 7th, and 8th of December 2025
After a brief pause, the Monte Generoso Railway is inaugurating its winter season for the third consecutive year,
confirming its commitment to being a tourist destination accessible all year round.
During the long weekend, visitors will be able to take advantage of a 50% discount on the winter fare for all routes on the rack railway (offer cannot be combined with other promotions).
The festive atmosphere will be made even more special by the aromas of mulled wine, which will envelop guests in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, enriched by festive decorations.

At the Self-Service restaurant, the dish of the day, Bruzella polenta with side dish,
will pay homage to the culinary tradition of Ticino, alongside the offerings of the
Buffet Bellavista. The Fiore di Pietra Restaurant, located on the fourth floor, will reopen on 2
May 2026, but it will be available upon request for corporate or group Christmas dinners.

On Sunday, 7 December, the joyful St. Nicholas Train will depart from Capolago,
an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Children will be able to meet St.
Nicholas, have their photo taken with him and spend an afternoon full of games and
surprises.

Between December and March 2026, Monte Generoso will be open every weekend and on certain weekdays.
holidays. To immerse yourself in the magic of the holidays, from 22 December 2025 to 6 January
2026, the rack railway, the Buffet Bellavista and the self-service restaurant at the summit will welcome
guests every day.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas, the lit fireplace at the Buffet Bellavista grotto
will provide the backdrop for special evenings dedicated to traditional dishes, such as raclette and
chinoise. The Christmas atmosphere will culminate with Christmas Lunch on 25 December,
a unique opportunity to enjoy a menu that combines authentic flavours and creativity in the
intimate and evocative setting of Bellavista, perfect for sharing emotions and good wishes
with friends and family.
New Year’s Eve will begin in Capolago, where the rack railway
will take guests to the grotto at the Bellavista intermediate station. Here, a
delicious festive menu and lively music from the DJ will be the perfect ingredients
to celebrate the arrival of 2026 with the traditional midnight toast.
From January, events return to the Buffet Bellavista: from the Momò Brunch on 6 January and
Father’s Day to Valentine’s Day dinner with a menu dedicated to lovers.
Every occasion is transformed into a unique and unforgettable experience to be enjoyed
