Lecco, City of the Betrothed “The Museum to Come, Manzoni is...”

October 3-5 – the new edition kicks off with literature, music, art, and inclusion

The new edition of the Manzoniano Festival 2025 was presented today at a press conference. This cultural event will enliven the city of Lecco from October 3 to 5 with a rich program of meetings, shows, concerts, and moments of reflection dedicated to Alessandro Manzoni and his cultural legacy.

This year’s theme is divided into five chapters that will explore the many facets of Manzoni:

  • Manzoni is… 19th-century romantic literature – with conferences, gothic tours, and a concert that intertwines poetry and music.

  • Manzoni is… an accessible and inclusive museum – with a round table dedicated to new technologies for accessibility and an immersive experience using the DescriVedendo method.

  • Manzoni is… the language of Italians – with dialogues, dramatic readings, and a recital of singer-songwriter songs.

  • Manzoni is… the wonder of the landscape and places – with the historic Manzonian Walk and guided tours to discover the fortifications of Lecco.

  • Manzoni is… the language of art – with a meeting with artist Emilio Isgrò and a musical recital by the Bergamo Quartet.

There will be plenty of opportunities for conviviality and original experiences, from aperitifs with local microbreweries to literary Murder Parties and tastings inspired by local traditions.

The Festival will also be enriched by the Fuori Festival, with workshops for schools, creative workshops, and the 21st edition of the “Alessandro Manzoni – Città di Lecco” International Literary Prize, which will once again confirm Lecco as the capital of Manzoni’s literature.

“The Manzoni Festival is a lively and contemporary celebration of Alessandro Manzoni,” said Simona Piazza. “It is an opportunity to rediscover his thinking, his connection with the region, and his extraordinary relevance today, through accessible language that can engage a diverse audience.”

All events are free to attend or require advance booking (some with a nominal participation fee).
