Lecco celebrates Saint Nicholas
Saturday, December 6: presentation of civic honors.
The Municipality of Lecco celebrates its patron saint, Saint Nicholas, with a packed calendar of cultural and musical events, culminating in the traditional presentation of civic honors.
On Saturday, November 29, at 9:00 p.m., the Lecco Choral Academy will hold a concert in the Basilica of San Nicolò.
On Thursday, December 4, at 6:00 p.m., there will be the inauguration of the historic Nativity Scene Exhibition at Palazzo delle Paure, followed by a visit to the exhibition at Torre Viscontea.
On Friday, December 5, at 5:30 p.m., the Palazzo delle Paure will host the inauguration of the exhibition “Capolavoro per Lecco 2025” (Masterpiece for Lecco 2025), curated by the Madonna del Rosario Cultural Association, with the theme: “Lessico famigliare – La bottega dei Bellini e l’alba del Rinascimento a Venezia” (Family Lexicon – The Bellini Workshop and the Dawn of the Renaissance in Venice). This will be followed at 9:00 p.m. by an evening concert by the Giuseppe Verdi Philharmonic Orchestra of Lecco at the Casa dell’Economia Auditorium.
On Saturday, December 6, on the occasion of the Liturgical Feast of St. Nicholas, at 5:00 p.m., there will be a solemn Holy Mass in the Basilica dedicated to the saint. Finally, at 9:00 p.m., the customary ceremony for the awarding of the civic honors “San Nicolò d’Oro” will take place at the recently renovated Teatro della Società in Piazza Garibaldi. The event will be accompanied by the Alessandro Manzoni Musical Corps of the Lecco Music Council.
